Hot off the press…example candidate response booklets from CIE. These can help us to see the level of performance needed to achieve key grades and understand exactly what examiners are looking for.
Each booklet contains low, middle and high examples of candidate responses which have been marked by examiners and show how different levels of candidates' performance relate to the subject's curriculum and assessment of objectives. Each response is accompanied by a brief commentary explaining the strengths and weaknesses of the answers.
You can print of answers from the sample booklets and ask the students to identify the key skills used, award marks and feedback and then compare with the examiners comments and grades. This can be particularly useful for revision of topics and approaching it in a different way for students. The latest list of booklets can be found by clicking on the link below:
