Weekly Teaching and Learning Email - P.E.E.R. Observation Part 2

27th March 2015

Dear Colleagues,

This week’s email is part two of peer observation and how I hope we can really work together to improve teaching and learning at Traill.  To encourage people to observe and be observed we have adapted a system called P.E.E.R. post cards (thanks Faye), an example post card is below and attached.  The idea is each time you observe someone then you make a note of what you saw that was useful and can then pass this information on through a P.E.E.R. post card.  The purpose is to Promote Employee Excellence with Recognition through reflecting on what you saw and by encouraging your observer through positive recognition.  Faye has had experience of a similar system and said, “I used observations in the past to observe something new and then got the original person to come and observe me try it out with my own spin on it”.

Not only do you get a post card but you also get the chance to win a bottle of wine.  The person with most post cards at the end of the year will get a bottle of wine.  As it take two to T.A.N.G.O (Take A Nosey Go Observe) the person who has observed the most lessons will also win a bottle of wine.  These wonderful prizes will be presented on the last day of term.  After you have completed an observation please complete a post card give it to the person you observed and discuss what you have noted down.  After this if people could then place the post card into my pigeon hole, I will then make a note of the participants and then pass it back.

Post cards will be available from my pigeon hole soon, please feel free to get started observing and then you can complete the post card retrospectively when they are available.

Best regards,
Neil
